Veneers improve your looks

April 30th, 2010

A veneer placed over the face of your teeth can correct imperfections to give you a beautiful smile.

There’s no longer any reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped, discolored, chipped or crooked. A veneer placed over the face of your teeth can correct these imperfections to give you a beautiful smile.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. They’re made by a dental technician, working from a model provided by Dr. Camuccio.

Although veneers are probably the most popular cosmetic treatment offered by our team, not everyone is a candidate for veneers, so you should talk to Dr. Camuccio to see if veneers can work for you to improve your smile.

During your consultation, Dr. C will discuss the pros and cons of veneers to help you decide if you want to follow through. And his recommendation will sometimes hinge on your overall dental health. For example, periodontal disease could be an impediment to treatment, so a plan to correct that condition may be recommended first. (Correction of periodontal disease should be achieved, anyway, for your overall health.)

Porcelain veneers are the most common material used. They look more like natural teeth and resist stains better than “resin” veneers, although resin veneers require less enamel to be removed from your teeth. All of these options will be discussed during your consultation.

If you have any questions about veneers, call Dr. Camuccio at 954-781-6170.

A brighter smile for a toothy star

April 10th, 2010

Who knew?

Actor Tom Cruise is reportedly undergoing treatment with Invisalign to smooth out his celebrated smile. A report from Inside Edition explains that Tom took his children to their orthodontist a few months ago, only to be told that he was the one who needed braces!

So what could possibly have been wrong with Tom’s teeth? “One of his two front teeth was right in the middle of his face” explains Dr. Camuccio. “It’s dead center and should be off to the right.”

Rather than sport braces, Tom chose Invisalign, a process involving an invisible shield that will straighten his teeth to make them look more natural. Other stars who have undergone the procedure include Cher, Diana Ross, and the late Michael Jackson, according to Inside Edition.

The process is available from Dr. Camuccio, who focuses on cosmetic dentistry and is a certified Invisalgn provider. Dr. C says he’s had considerable success with patients who have tried the treatment and recommends it for those who wish to add sparkle and symmetry to their smile.

Invisalign may not for be everybody. Sometimes conventional braces are indicated or other cosmetic procedures may better fill the bill. You should contact Dr. Camuccio at Creative Smiles in Pompano Beach, for a free evaluation and consultation. The consultation will include an explanation of the procedure, as well as an estimate of how long it will take and costs involved.
